FREQUENTLY ASKED
Common Questions About Home Care
Can a family member or friend get paid to be the caregiver?
Yes. Through Indiana’s family caregiver pay programs, an eligible family member, friend, or neighbor can be hired and paid to provide care. We help you check eligibility and walk you through every step of the process.
How much does home care cost out of pocket?
For families who qualify through Medicaid Waiver or other state programs, there is typically zero out-of-pocket cost. Our team will run a free eligibility check to find the best path for your situation.
How fast can care actually start?
Once eligibility is confirmed, care can usually begin within a few business days. For urgent situations — like recent hospital discharge — we can often move even faster.
Which Indiana counties do you serve?
All 92 Indiana counties. Whether you’re in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, or a small town, we have caregivers and a care team ready to support you.
What kinds of services do your caregivers provide?
Personal care assistance with daily living (bathing, dressing, mobility, meals), companionship, light housekeeping, errands, transportation, medication reminders, and restorative support after illness or injury.
Do I have to choose your caregiver, or can I pick my own?
You can pick your own — even a family member or close friend you already trust. We also have a team of background-checked, trained caregivers ready if you’d prefer one of ours.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Answers for Hoosier Families
How quickly can care begin?
In most cases we can complete an in-home assessment within 24–48 hours and start care shortly after. Urgent situations? Call us — we’ll do everything we can to accelerate.
Do you accept Medicaid waivers or VA benefits?
Yes. We work with Indiana Medicaid waiver programs (including Aged & Disabled and CHOICE), VA Aid & Attendance, long-term care insurance, and private pay. We’ll help you figure out what you qualify for.
Can a family member be paid as a caregiver?
Often, yes — through Indiana’s Structured Family Caregiving program. If you’re already caring for a loved one full-time, you may be eligible to receive a tax-free daily stipend. Learn more here.
Are your caregivers screened and trained?
Every caregiver passes a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and skills assessment. Ongoing training keeps the team current on best practices in dementia care, fall prevention, and medication reminders.
What if we don’t click with our caregiver?
Just tell us. Personality fit matters as much as skill, and we’ll match you with someone new — no awkward conversations required.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
We typically schedule a minimum of 4 hours per visit so caregivers can be truly helpful, but we’re flexible for shorter check-ins on existing care plans. Call us to talk through what fits your situation.
